Listen. Acknowledge. Act.

We believe change comes with commitment and positive collective action.

We know it is a privilege to educate ourselves about racism, rather than experience it.

The world is evolving and we intend to be an active and positive part of that evolution

Thanks to the generosity of our RCT community, in May we donated $4000 to Downtown Women’s Center. We continue to support the PPE needs of the black community, which is disproportionately affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in our ongoing partnership with 1736 Family Crisis Center. Los Angeles is facing a second wave of the virus and we can’t afford to relax our commitment.

We know that dedicated perseverance is the most powerful way to make a true impact.

We are in this for the long haul.

This month, we will donate 10% of clothing sales to 1736 and with your help we will also donate another 350 linen face masks to this vital community organization.

Established in 1972, the 1736 Family Crisis Center shelter and community service workers respond to the needs of victims of domestic violence, runaway and homeless youth, as well as homeless and at-risk veterans. Their programs and services are more important now as we face the COVID-19 pandemic. Our RCT masks will be given out free to their walk-in clients so the most vulnerable in our community have PPE.

We stand with them in their fight to keep underserved  families safe.

#defundthepolice

Inspired by the recent decisions within the Minneapolis school system, we are enthusiastically signing on in support of the initiative to defund school police in our own LAUSD community.

The UTLA Board of Directors recently voted 35 to 2 to defund LAUSD school police entirely and reinvest that funding into mental health workers and into community schools, specifically supporting black students.

The UTLA House of Reps still needs to vote on this to make it officially UTLA policy.

To our RCT Los Angeles community, we ask that you join us in taking a few moments and fill out the Students Deserve Survey to Defund LAUSD school police!

As always, we thank you for your support of RCT.
Together, we are taking action and creating change.

Love,
Rachel
